The Polar Code

6,000 ships regularly sail polar waters. In order to protect these sensitive environments, the IMO adopted the International Code for Ships Operating in Polar Waters —also known as the Polar Code—which came into force on January 1, 2017. This infographic provides an overview of the regulations.
