Festivities at Sea
All over the world, family and friends are starting to gather to carry out their individual holiday traditions. The Engineering at Sea hub would like to use this time to celebrate the holiday season with all our followers, whatever the festivities you are celebrating—after all, our hub audience spans 145 countries!
To give an insight into how people around the world, specifically in the maritime community, celebrate this period, we will be sharing 24 daily posts based on the theme of Festivities at Sea. By sharing festive links that reflect a maritime focus, we aim to brighten the holiday season for those of you who are away from home.
So, whether it’s an article on engineering for arctic exploration vessels, or a link to festive sea shanties, tales of a nautical Christmas past, or even a recipe for gingerbread sailors, we’ll be putting the “sea” into Season’s Greetings! But for this, we’d appreciate your help…
Bringing the maritime community together
There are many celebrations occurring over the next few weeks, but we won’t be able to post something for all of them. Instead, we hope to act as a connector for the maritime community, creating a social hub full of international holiday wishes. Not everyone can be home for the holidays, especially in the maritime industry, so we hope that these posts might bring a little holiday cheer to those who are away.
What is Advent?
Advent is a longstanding tradition full of excitement and expectation, which throughout history has been celebrated with music, prayer, and fasting. Today it is widely commemorated with Advent calendars, where each day a new window is opened to reveal a sweet treat, pensive message, or toy.
